High Metacognition supports high motivation to remain in the culture…to live in it….to work in it…

In our 2014 study, females scored highest in metacognition (the practice checking, rechecking, and adjusting their cultural knowledge) and in the willingness to assimilate their behaviors in new cultural settings.

Males were less likely than females to assimilate their behaviors

even when their motivation factors to remain in the culture studied was high...

Men were more likely than females to retain their self-identity factors:  language, speech, non-verbal behaviors.
